The incident happened on Sunday, July 12, at around 8:45 p.m. at the Boston Road Walmart in Springfield where police found two children, ages four and six, left alone in a hot car.
“The window was slightly cracked and it was 89 outside and warmer in the car,” Clapprood said during a press conference.
The mother was located inside the store, shopping, when she was arrested, police said, and charged with two counts of reckless endangerment to a child. The name of the woman has not been released.
